Smartwatch for gamers with built-in ChatGPT voice

Black Shark, the gaming peripheral brand known for its controllers and cooling fans, has unveiled a sporty smartwatch designed for hardcore gamers. The Black Shark S1 Pro supports ChatGPT Voice and is specifically designed for prolonged "Gaming Health Monitoring Mode" that monitors the user's health during game play.

The Black Shark S1 Pro will be available in early 2024 for $69. When it becomes available, it will be available for purchase directly from Black Shark. The product page lists two color options, black and blue, both of which look pretty snazzy to me; what else will the S1 Pro offer? Read more

The standout feature of the S1 Pro is its support for ChatGPT Voice. However, as of this writing, no examples of the AI tool in action on Black Shark Watch exist. Details are also scarce.

Nevertheless, S1 Pro users will almost certainly be able to activate the wrist-based chatbot with voice commands. - without having to put down the controller or take their eyes off the screen.

OpenAI recently made ChatGPT Voice available for free. And Black Shark may be the first smartwatch maker to take advantage of that open availability by building support directly into their devices. But they will certainly be the last.

Little is also known about the watch's gaming health monitoring mode; will the S1 Pro remind users to get up and move as often as the best fitness trackers? Especially if the reminder is to go off in the middle of important gameplay. More likely, more likely, it would gently alert users if key health indicators are out of whack.

Like the standard Black Shark S1 smartwatch, the Pro model includes a pulse rate monitor to keep track of heart rate. It will also have an SpO2 sensor to monitor blood oxygen saturation. Low oxygen saturation can lead to early detection of disease. So it would be useful to have it built in.

Finally, despite being marketed specifically to gamers, the S1 Pro can track over 100 different physical activities and sports. What metrics will be compiled and what activities will be supported? It is not yet known.

The S1 Pro has a 1.43" AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 600 nits. Other features include Bluetooth calling, NFC, IP68 water resistance, up to 15 days of battery life, and interchangeable watch faces. The device runs on FreeRTOS.

The Black Shark S1 Pro remains a mystery. But rest assured, it will be a very interesting device.

Frankly, even if it ends up being a total stinker, it's still a very cool smartwatch for under $70.
