After 14 years away from the screen, genius detective Adrian Monk returns with a one-off movie special, The Mr. Monk Movie,

The original show starred Tony Shalhoub as the fastidious private detective and ran for eight seasons on the USA Network.

Monk's return is that he resumes his detective work for an entirely new mystery. Monk's daughter-in-law Molly (Caitlin Magee) is in the midst of preparing for her wedding to Griffin (Austin Scott).

Their wedding plans are derailed when a mysterious death forces Monk to retire.

Fans of the show will be pleased to see familiar faces such as Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard, Melora Hardin, and Hector Elizondo return with Shalhoub. Bitty Schramm, who played Monk's nurse for two seasons, is the only major character absent.

Series creator Andy Blechman is also back as writer and executive producer, ensuring that the atmosphere of the original show, which sadly ended, is recreated
