Apple has always aimed to keep the SE series affordable for consumers, but it may have taken an interesting step forward regarding the rumored upcoming iPhone SE 4. According to an anonymous source speaking to MacRumors, it is to reuse the battery from the 2022 iPhone 14. [The iPhone 14's battery capacity is 3,279 mAh, a significant difference from the iPhone SE 3's 2,018 mAh.

While the SE 3 had a reasonably long-lasting battery (lasting just over 9 hours in our tests), it struggled against its contemporaries at the time. However, the charging speed was fast, reaching 61% in 30 minutes. This was faster than the iPhone 14, which only reached 54% in 30 minutes, but this was to be expected given its larger capacity.

It is not surprising that Apple aims to reuse the battery in this new design. While there are rumors that Apple has allegedly developed a new battery with enhanced heat dissipation for the iPhone 16, it is unlikely that this will be included in the SE model The SE series is Apple's lower-priced version for those on a limited budget. As such, a more expensive battery could drive up the price.

This is just one of many rumors of upgrades to the latest SE model that we have heard recently. The phone will likely feature a USB-C charging port to bring it in line with the rest of Apple's product lineup. While this may frustrate some users, it will make it easier to find a spare charger as cables are unified.
