December is upon us, and this week is also full of new movies on Netflix, Hulu, Paramount Plus, and other major streaming services. [Martin Scorsese's epic about a series of murders in the early 20th century on Oklahoma's Osage Nation. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, it is one of the biggest films of the year.

A few other major releases include A24's "Showing Up," which will appear on Paramount Plus along with Showtime, and may be the last A24 film to appear on the streaming service after the production company signed with Max. The psycho-thriller "Leave the World Behind" and its stellar cast are also coming to Netflix this week.

Some of these titles are available in new digital releases and can be purchased at premium prices, while others only require the appropriate streaming subscription. "The Flower Moon Killer" will be coming to Apple TV Plus. But before that, it will be available as a paid video-on-demand.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, "The Flower Moon Killer" is based on the true story of a mysterious murder in the Osage country in the 1920s. Both actors give excellent performances in the film, but the real star is Lily Gladstone, who plays Molly Kyle, a member of the Osage tribe and wife of Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio). She delivers a star quality performance that is not to be missed.

"Persian Edition" is an absurdist comedy-drama about a large Iranian-American family with a very unique family. Leila, played by Leila Mohammadi, is constantly at odds with her mother. She is a lesbian, but gets pregnant after dating a male actor.

As the family gathers to help her father recover from heart surgery, secrets are revealed and she is forced to explore her family's past. There's a reason this comedy was lauded at the Sundance Film Festival.

Showing Up may be an old movie, but its late arrival on streaming services is because, yes, so was the movie: despite its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and Michelle Williams plays a sculptor and arts administrator, this A24 film was just released in theaters this year. But that hasn't stopped the praise for both Williams and director Kelly Reichardt, and if you have the premium version of Paramount Plus, which includes Showtime, "Showing Up" is well worth seeing. Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke play Mr. and Mrs. Sandford on vacation on Long Island. But their vacation is soon interrupted by the Scotts, played by Mahershala Ali and Mihalya, who inform the Sandfords that the place they are staying is actually their home.

Suddenly, however, the thriller takes another turn when a crisis strikes that puts not only the Sandfords' vacation, but the entire world at risk. Thriller film starring Kevin Bacon and directed by Sam Esmail.

At this point, are we surprised that a DC movie is not coming to Max? The animated Batman adventure was originally scheduled to be available on Max, but will now be available on Prime Video instead. [This holiday special, starring Jonas Kibrab as Damien Wayne (Little Batman), David Hornsby as the Joker, and Luke Wilson as the Dark Knight, will probably not be told like "The Dark Knight" or "Mask of the Phantasm" It will be. But it is definitely a superhero movie that both parents and children will enjoy and laugh out loud about.

"Mission" explores the death of John Chau, an American missionary to North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean. John was killed because North Sentinel Island is home to the Sentinelese, one of the world's remaining uncontacted tribes.

Their isolation is protected by law, and the Indian government even prohibits photography on North Sentinel Island. Nevertheless, Chau still attempted to make contact. The Mission explores his plan and whether he was right to attempt it in the first place.

Did you enjoy "The Holdovers"? So what if it was a horror film instead? Sacrifice Game stars Mena Masood, Olivia Scott Welch, and Gus Kenworthy and tells the terrifying story of a gang of killers who invade a boarding school in 1971.

Will students Samantha and Clara survive? That's for you to see. Spoiler alert: Initial reviews were quite good and it currently has a 100% "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Streaming on Shudder or AMC Plus starting December 8

"Jules," starring Ben Kingsley as Milton, is about when a UFO crashes in your backyard. In addition to Kingsley, the film is heartwarming and funny, with great performances from the cast, including Jane Curtin, Harriet Sansom Harris, Zoe Winters, Jade Kwong (as Jules the alien), and Andy Daley. If you want to see a feel-good movie, "Jules" is a great choice.
