Netflix and Max Partner on $10 Killer Streaming Bundle - But There's a Catch

Netflix and Max are the best streaming services; between Netflix's original productions, Max's HBO programming, and both services' vast libraries, they may even be the only streaming services you need.

Available now for just $10. Combined.

Starting December 7, Netflix (ad-supported) and Max (ad-supported) will be available for just $10 per month. However, you must be a Verizon customer. Specifically, you must be a Verizon myPlan customer to take advantage of this new streaming service bundle.

And that's no small snag. Currently, Verizon myPlan has three plans, starting with Unlimited Welcome, which is $65 per month plus taxes and fees. This means that if you want to take advantage of this streaming bundle, you'll need to spend at least $65 per month on your wireless bill. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but a high barrier to entry. However, if you are a myPlan customer, this new Netflix and Max bundle will significantly reduce your spending on streaming services. This is important at a time when streaming services are regularly going up in price.

Moreover, the savings are not limited to Netflix and Max. Verizon already offers the Disney Trio Basic Bundle (Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN Plus, all ad-supported) for $10/month if you are a My Plan customer, and Verizon is offering this new Netflix and Max bundle, as well as its promotion available. In other words, for those who need to watch all the latest streaming TV shows and movies, five streaming services for only $20 may be worth spending more than $65 on a phone bill.

Prior to this Verizon announcement, the top streaming deal was clearly the Disney bundle. While tastes may differ on the various Marvel and Star Wars originals available on Disney Plus, the combination of Disney's extensive library of movies and Hulu's excellent TV programming was too good a deal to pass up for most people. Even after the price was raised to $9.99 per month and ads were added to Disney Plus, it was still a bargain.

But after sending the first HBO show to Netflix in July and 12 DC movies to Netflix this month, Netflix and Max, who seem to be building a friendly relationship, could offer their bundle to the general public and it would quickly become the best streaming service bundle.

Even if this bundle were to be $14.99 instead of $10 to please Verizon, and the same price as the $14.99/month for the Trio Basic bundle that Disney is charging the public, I would still be happy with ad-supported Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Plus instead, I would gladly spend $15/month for ad-supported Netflix and Max. The combination of quality programming and variety of TV shows and movies would give them an edge over Disney's narrower and less prestigious streaming content. Don't be surprised if eventually, in the near future, you can subscribe to a Netflix and Max bundle without requiring a Verizon plan on your phone.
