OnePlus 12 Specs Announced - Going Head-to-Head with Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in Every Way

Update: The OnePlus 12 is now officially available in China, and the full specs are as follows.

OnePlus' official Weibo page has further teased the OnePlus 12's specs, most notably the promise that the new phone will have IP65 dust and water resistance.

On the positive side, the current OnePlus 11 is IP64 rated, so the new model will be an improvement on this. The bad news is that it falls short of the IP68 rating found in the current Galaxy S23 series, the iPhone 15 series, perhaps the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, and many of the best phones sold in the past few years.

OnePlus has long promised that its flagship phones would be waterproof, but has gone back and forth about properly testing this; the OnePlus 8 Pro in 2020 is OnePlus' first phone to offer an IP68 rating, followed OnePlus 9 series did the same. However, the OnePlus 10 Pro no longer does so, and the OnePlus 11 now offers an IP64 rating.

It is not only the IP rating of the phones that OnePlus continues to change its mind about, but wireless charging is another notable example. After selling several phones with fast wireless charging systems, the OnePlus 11 did not even offer the common Qi charging standard. Wireless charging will return with the OnePlus 12, so hopefully OnePlus will not change its mind again.

The IP rating of the upcoming phone is not the only thing OnePlus had to reveal; further posts on Weibo have confirmed that the phone will have a 5,400 mAh battery. This battery appears to be powered by 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, with the wired charging speed being the same as the OnePlus 11, but the wireless charging standard is said to surpass the OnePlus 10 Pro and previous models.

The OnePlus 12 also appears to have both the latest Bluetooth 5.4 standard and USB 3.2 Gen1 wired data transfer speeds, ensuring the future of its connectivity offerings.OnePlus also reiterated its watch-inspired "TIME design" mentioned, showing off the phone in green, black, and white color schemes.

OnePlus will officially launch on December 5, but only for the Chinese market. A global launch date will be announced on December 15, which will likely be in early 2024. At that time, local retailers and mobile carriers will finally see the phone on sale.
