Yellowstone6666 All we know so far about the spin-off

There is no shortage of Yellowstone spinoffs, but thanks to the phenomenal success of the original series, there is no room for another one.

A Yellowstone prequel titled "6666" (pronounced "four-six") is currently in the works, series creator Taylor Sheridan has confirmed. There is one big problem, however. Sheridan has not stated when the series will premiere, and as of this writing, the cast has not been finalized. [Four Sixes was initially announced as a prequel to the "Yellowstone" series in 2021. Since then, however, Sheridan has made little comment about the series, and has only shed a brief description of what the show will focus on. There was some hope that the series was on track for a 2023 release, but the recently ended Hollywood writers' and actors' strike has all but eliminated that possibility.

It also appears that Sheridan himself is holding off on the release of "6666. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this summer, Sheridan said that "6666" needs more time.

"For a variety of reasons, this is a real place, with real families working here, and it requires a unique level of special care," he said of the series. 'You have to respect that genealogy. I've told [the studio] to be patient."

Whatever the reason for the series' delay, interest in "6666" has not waned one bit. And fans of the hugely popular Yellowstone World are eagerly awaiting the premiere of 6666.

Here is what we know so far. Please check back for updates as they become available.

Details on what we can expect from "6666" are scarce, but according to the IMDb listing, the plot of the series seems to center on Comanches and cowboys, along with the ranch itself.

"There is no ranch in America more steeped in the history of the western frontier than the 6666 Ranch, established when the Comanche still ruled West Texas," the IMDb listing reads.

"6666 is where the rule of law meets the law of nature, and the most dangerous thing to do is to do next...6666 is synonymous with a ruthless effort to raise the finest horses and cattle in the world, and ultimately, where world-class cowboys are born and made."

Perhaps most interesting, however, is that the program does not take place on the Dutton Ranch, allowing the Yellowstone story to extend beyond its physical confines to an actual ranch in West Texas with significant historical value.

As of this writing, there are no confirmed reports as to when 6666 will air; there is some hope that it will finally air in 2024, but until Sheridan gets it ready, finds a cast, and gets it in the pen, it is impossible to say.

However, Sheridan has signed a major deal with Paramount for the spinoff, so there is a good chance that the show will be available for streaming on Paramount+ if and when it debuts.

We don't know. As of this writing, no one has been announced for the future 6666 cast, nor do we know when it will be announced.

Unlike the Yellowstone Ranch in Montana, 6666 is an actual ranch based in the Texas Panhandle. The ranch is over 200 years old and encompasses a whopping 270,000 acres. And there is another interesting fact about 6666: Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone and once an unsuccessful actor, acquired the ranch in 2021 and now lives there.

Given that, and given how serious Sheridan is about ensuring the authenticity of the ranch's story, it seems likely (if not guaranteed) that "6666" will be filmed on his property on the ranch. Scenes from "Yellowstone" seasons 4 and 5 were filmed at 6666.

In season 4 of Yellowstone, Jimmy (Jefferson White) leaves the Yellowstone Ranch to work at the 6666 Ranch, where he finally learns to be a real cowboy. In the final episode of season 4, he and his fiancée Emily (Katherine Kelly) leave Yellowstone to work on a ranch in Texas.

So it is possible that they will both appear in "6666," but the IMDB synopsis suggests that they may only make regular appearances if the show ventures further into the past than the present.

The plot of the series suggests that cowboys will play a major role in the story, and it is likely that one or two Duttons will appear, but it is currently unclear which Dutton clan and how they relate to the other clans. It is also possible that the Dutton family will not appear in the series, as this will be the first spin-off focusing on a completely different ranch in another state.
