All eyes are on Samsung's Galaxy S24 as it is likely to be announced in January and should set the tone for all other phones to be released in 2024. All of the leaks and rumors of the past few months paint a picture of what lies ahead for this series, but thanks to a recent FCC filing, we can confirm a few key specs.

Again, all three versions of the Galaxy S24 have been spotted in the FCC's database, which may prove to be the definitive benchmark. For the U.S.-bound versions of the Galaxy S24 (SM-S921U) and Galaxy S24+ (SM-S926U), a Qualcomm modem is reported to be on board, which inevitably means a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Galaxy S 24 and S24+ global versions will have a mix of Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets, which is good news for U.S. phone buyers, although it is still undecided.

Qualcomm's latest mobile chipset was officially unveiled at the company's annual summit in October. Given that Samsung has already announced the inclusion of AI capabilities, it makes sense that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will power these new experiences. [What about the Galaxy S24 Ultra? According to documents filed with the FCC, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely have a Qualcomm modem and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This, of course, reflects the fact that this year's Galaxy S23 lineup all had the same chipset.

Interestingly, the Android Authority team found an S Pen for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. And this is not surprising, given that the Galaxy S22 Ultra has been equipped with an advanced stylus since the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the documents submitted do not mention any new tricks that this updated S Pen may have.

There is extra good news for the Galaxy S24 Ultra based on the FCC filing, as the Samsung phone appears to be getting the proper upgrade treatment: Wi-Fi 7 support, reverse wireless charging, and ultra-wideband support. It has also been revealed that the Galaxy S24 Plus will support ultra-wideband, but it is unclear if the standard Galaxy S24 will support ultra-wideband. At the very least, the two entry-level models should support Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and reverse wireless charging.

While these are important specs that confirm past rumors, there are still many unknowns in the FCC filings. Most notable is whether Samsung will upgrade the charging speed of its upcoming phones. Given that this is one of the areas where other phones are outperforming Samsung's flagship, you would think this would be a priority. On top of that, the documents submitted do not include any details about the camera.

Fortunately, we may not have to wait long, as the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is coming up in mid-January. Given how these new listings appeared at the FCC, it is even more likely that Samsung will hold an Unpacked event next month.
