The holidays are in full swing and the year 2023 is quickly approaching its end. Can you believe it? Somehow, somehow, as we enter the last month of the year, it's time to check out the new Disney Plus programming for December 2023.

The new movies and shows debuting on Disney Plus over the next few weeks have something for the whole family. Gather the action lovers on the couch for the streaming debut of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Doom" and the festive short film "The Shepherd."

The December lineup also includes the first two episodes of "Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus," a series adaptation of YA author Rick Riordan's best-selling book series.

In 1944, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and archaeologist Basil Shaw (Toby Jones) are captured by the Nazis while searching for a legendary relic in the French Alps. Their quest takes an unexpected turn when they discover the Archimedes Dial, a device capable of time travel. After Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), the godmother's daughter, reveals the startling truth about the Dial, the retired Indy is called back into service. To keep the dial out of the wrong hands, Indy travels from the streets of New York to Greece, Sicily, and around the world, pursued by NASA's nefarious agent, Voler (Mads Mikkelsen), and it's a race against time. Literally.

Young Air Force pilot Freddie Hook (Ben Radcliffe) faces his biggest challenge yet when his routine Christmas Eve flight is compromised. His plane loses communications and electricity and is left adrift with dwindling fuel. John Travolta plays the enigmatic Good Samaritan, who shows a depressed and panicked Freddy the way out. Produced by Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón, this short film is about hope and the ability to find miracles in unexpected places.

Based on Rick Riordan's best-selling book series (which has also been made into a film), the show offers a new adaptation of the YA novel. Percy Jackson (Walker Scovell) is a seemingly ordinary 12-year-old. When Zeus (Lance Reddick) accuses him of stealing a lightning bolt, he is thrust into an extraordinary life as a demigod. Together with his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy embarks on an epic journey to clear his name while preventing a catastrophic war among the gods.
