[Billy Madison] is one of Adam Sandler's first starring roles and is a fun comedy from start to finish, a film not to be missed. Sandler portrays an adult who has lived his entire life avoiding adulthood. When Billy ruins an important dinner party with his typical antics, his father, Brian Madison, played by Darren McGavin, chooses the obviously sinister Vice President as his ideal predecessor in retirement.

So Billy, played by Sandler, convinces his father to give him another chance and promises to return to school in the first grade. Adam Sandler's befriending of his eight-year-old classmates is one of the film's many humorous moments. He also confronts bullying, unrequited love, and all the other challenges of growing up in the strangest but hilarious ways. The jokes in the film may seem outlandish at times, but given the premise, that's part of the film's charm.

Even if sports movies aren't your thing, Adam Sandler's role in "Hustle" will surprise you. He plays Stanley Sugarman, an international scout for the 76ers. He discovers a talented player overseas, Bo Cruz, and brings him back to the United States. Stanley's struggle for redemption is at the heart of this story, and Sandler plays it perfectly. It wasn't long before he found himself falling in love with Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore. She often waitresses at Robbie's wedding events. Ironically, she is also soon to be married.

The classic romantic trope of bringing together two people who love each other who may drift apart is the driving force behind the film. It's a familiar story, but Sandler manages to balance romance and comedy in a way that makes the film shine. In addition, he and Drew Barrymore have such great chemistry that it is no wonder they have several more films together.

"Uncut Gems" is one of the top films of 2019 and one of the best films of Adam Sandler's career. It stars Howard Ratner as Howard Ratner, a jeweler and gambling addict who is struggling to pay off his debts. Meanwhile, his wife, Julia De Fiore, played by Julia Fox, threatens to leave him. Things finally begin to turn around when he obtains a black opal in the rough, smuggled in from Ethiopia.

Things start to go awry when Howard, played by Sandler, trades the opal to a star NBA player who wants it for good luck during a game and never gets it back. Everything comes to a head when Howard tries to get back the jewel he's convinced will solve his problems.Netflix

It's no surprise that "Meyerowitz Stories" made our list. With an all-star cast, the film depicts the complexities of family relationships. Adam Sandler plays Danny Meyerowitz, who has recently returned to his parents' home after the breakup of his marriage.

Danny's estranged brother joins him after his father Harold, played by Dustin Hoffman, has an accident. Ben Stiller plays the older brother, Matthew, and Elizabeth Marvel plays the younger sister, Jean, and the relationship between the three siblings feels true to real life, especially in the way they relate to their father and each other. Sandler's role in the film is one of his most powerful and dynamic characters to date, and one of his best roles.

In Reign Over Me, Adam Sandler once again shows his incredible depth. In the film, Alan Johnson, played by Don Cheadle, is accidentally reunited with his college roommate Charlie Feynman, whom he has not seen in years. Charlie, played by Sandler, is a shadow of his former self, having lost his entire family in the 9/11 attacks.

However, Alan has no intention of letting his friend go so easily and sends him to a therapist, played by Liv Tyler, to try to bring him back to life. Unfortunately, the protagonist, played by Cheadle, is unaware of the depth of his friend's suffering as Charlie's life goes further and further off the rails. Adam Sandler's character is never outclassed in any of his roles, blending pathos, friendly awkwardness, and a touch of humor.
