Computex2024 Days 1-8 Top New Gadgets You Need to See

Computex2024 has already begun, and with it there are many new computing and AI-related announcements. The show floor isn't officially open until tomorrow 6/4, but we've already heard about a lot of cool new things over the weekend. In addition, the Tapei-based show will last until 6/7, and much more will happen along the way.

So far we have seen a laptop made of recycled plastic, a new camera for shooting and live streaming in 3D, a smart monitor with Google TV, a new Wi-Fi7 mesh router, and a new AMD Ryzen AI3000 chip. The biggest announcements from Computex2024day one are:

Utilizing the latest Wi-Fi7 technology, Acer's Mesh7 router can provide a home network that is even faster and wider than its current configuration. This router comes as standard to pack 2.5GHz and 5ghz wireless networks, alongside optional 6ghz signals. We're seeing speeds of up to 6,400Mbps, and Acer promises "exceptional" reliability and latency.

It also leverages Hybrid Quality of Service (QoS) software and the Intel Killer Prioritization Engine to ensure that the devices that require the most bandwidth can acquire it. Plus 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and switchable WAN/LAN options for more flexible network configuration.

The Acer Mesh7 will be launched in Q2 in the US, and the North American price has not been revealed, but 119 euros for a single route, 199 euros for a double pack and 299 euros for a triple AMD claims that the new Ryzen AI3000 series will be "the best processor in the world for [Microsoft] CoPilot+ Pcs."

. AMD will outperform APPLE's M4 and Snapdragon X Elite, promising 1 trillion AI performance per 50 seconds, and boost GPU performance by 3.5% thanks to RDNA60.

It also features up to 12 Zen5CPU cores and boasts 70% more multitasking performance than the Apple M3, but similarly, we haven't seen a machine with this new chipset yet, but something could be seen before Computex ends.

While 3D screens may be seen as a thing of the past for many, Acer SpatialLabs is still pursuing them. And the latest development is the目549SpatialLabs eye stereo camera, designed to help film content for those 3D displays. This 4x2.6x0.9 inch camera sports a pair of 8MP cameras, electronic image stabilization as well as the ability to manually customize settings like a pro. SpatialLabs Player3.0 will also be able to use the camera to live stream 3D content to a variety of platforms and video calling services, including YouTube, Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.

Naturally, it's also compatible with Acer's SpatialLabs devices. If that's attractive to you, this camera will be on sale in Q3 this year.

What is the line between the monitor and the smart TV? Whatever you think, it's clear that Acer is pretty blurring that line with the new DA1 and Nitro GA1 monitors — both support Google TV. Ideal if you can't afford to have multiple screens around your apartment.

The DA1 starts atド349 and is available in 27-inch or 31.5-inch sizes. The screen provides 4K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 250nit brightness, AdaptiveSync, HDMI2.0 port, DisplayPort1.4, USB-C with 65W power supply, 3.5mm audio, 2 USB2.0 ports.

The Nitro GA1 starts atン329 and is also available in 27-inch and 31.5-inch screen sizes. The resolution is QHD, and the refresh rate is limited to 144Hz for HDMI and 180Hz for DisplayPort. Similar to the DA1, it offers 1 HDMI port, 1 DisplayPort, USB-C with 65W PD, 2 USB ports, 3.55mm audio, AMD FreeSync, and Nvidia G—Sync compatibility. Both monitors are expected to arrive in the U.S. in the 4th quarter of this year.

The ASUS ROG Ally X is an all-new gaming handheld that can give the Steam deck a run for money. There are many improvements over last year's models, of which there is a full HD display with a refresh rate of at least 120hz and a brightness of 500nit. It also comes with an 80Wh battery, dual USB-C ports, Dolby Atmos speakers, a more accurate D-pad and a more durable analog stick. Handheld runs on Windows11 and features the same AMD Ryzen Z1Extreme as its predecessor. There's also a new version of the Armory Crate to customize the game library, an upgradeable 1TB SSD and a 24GB LPDDR5X700RAM. The handheld is sold in the United States. Well, the price starts with the AMD799

Finally, there is the official announcement of the AMD Ryzen9000 series. It claims to be the "most powerful desktop processor in the world" and comes with the next generation Zen5 architecture. AMD has also confirmed that the chip will deliver significantly better performance than the Intel Core I9-14900K, with a 100% increase in graphics bandwidth with GPU-centric AI, and with larger language models AI

AMD will also extend the commitment of the AM5 platform beyond 2027, allowing PC builders to use the same motherboards. The board (with the appropriate socket) made it possible to continue using it in the future.

ASUS dropped a whole new range of ProArt laptops at Computex2024. So it's clear that the AI computing era is here, with P16, PX13 and PZ13 leading the way.

All ProArt machines have been military tested for durability and offer 40 NPU performance, which will help enhance these AI credentials. These creative-centric machines, with big color accurate screens, powerful graphics, and some pretty hefty batteries, are all integrated into

AI to keep you going, and gaming laptops are no exception. ASUS has just announced 3 new gaming laptops, each packing a new AMD Ryzen AI300NPU chipset — capable of handling 50 million tops per second.

First of all, it is the ROG Zephyrus G2.5, which offers an OLED display with a resolution of 240k and a refresh rate of 16hz. On top of that, you'll find Nvidia GeForce RTX4070GPU, and a variety of AI tools for content summaries, image generation, code reading and debugging.  Plus Wi-Fi7. Next up are TUF Gaming A2.5 and A165 laptops with a 1070K resolution display, a refresh rate of 4070HZ, an RTX32 graphics card and up to 14GB of RAM. This time there is no OLED screen, but the laptop itself is designed for ease of use and ergonomics. This should be a pleasure to use them for extended gaming sessions.
