[So far, companies like Intel and AMD have vied for the AI PC crown, but have fallen just short of Apple's silicon in terms of CPU and GPU performance as well as AI-driven tasks. [According to internal documents leaked to The Verge, Microsoft is confident that Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite chips can beat Apple's M3 MacBook Air. Not only that, but the company is likely to unveil a consumer version of the Surface Pro 10 with this ARM chipset at its Build event next month. [It has been a long road to get here, with many attempts like Microsoft's SQ1 and SQ2 chips, which were developed with Qualcomm, failing. However, both companies believe that all the ducks are perfectly aligned for this to be Apple's moment to fall behind.

Specifically, these new X Elite laptops seem to conquer the M3 Air in both CPU performance, AI tasks, and app emulation. x64 emulation has always been a bit slower and buggier, while the M3 Air's x64 emulation has always been a bit slower and buggier.

However, according to internal documents, these new Windows AI PCs seem to offer "faster app emulation than Rosetta 2."

In fact, Microsoft is so confident that it has prepared numerous head-to-head demos of Snapdragon systems and the M3 Air to back up this lofty claim.

The ARM version of Windows has been given the shot in the arm (pun intended) it desperately needs to match the performance and power efficiency wonders of Apple's M chip.

As many of you know, this is not the first time Microsoft has flirted with ARM, but this could be the moment when Qualcomm finally cracks ARM. At next month's Build event, the company is reportedly going to unveil consumer versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 with Snapdragon X Elite chips, and we can expect (and have reported) that the company will make a big announcement.

Based on what we've seen so far, the silicon wars are really starting to heat up, which should excite me.
