"Bridgerton" Showrunner Offers Season 4 progress updates- but that's not good news

The second batch of "Bridgerton" Season 3 episodes landed last week (June13), ending their latest visit to ton. The dust barely settled on the love story of Colin and Penelope, but the story is already directed to the next chapter of the show.

Significant progress has been updated in Season 4... But it looks like we'll have to wait a while before the hit Netflix period drama returns. Speaking to THR at the recent UK premiere of "Bridgerton" Season 3 Part 2, showrunner Jess Brownell said she believes next season's script will feature some of their "best work" and sadly she also confirmed that the 2-year wait between seasons won't run out soon.

"I'm really excited about what we're writing," Brownell said. "We're heading to the end with a script and a writer's room season. And I feel like it's my best job and some of the best jobs in my writer's room. We've really gelled up our collaboration, and we're firing on all cylinders, so look at what we have

"We're trying to get the season out more quickly, but they take eight months to shoot and then they need to edit and then we're going to have to do a lot of work." For example, they must be dubbed in all languages. And since writing also takes a very long time, we're trying to speed up, at a 2-year pace, but we're somewhere in that range," Brownell added.

Unfortunately, it's still pretty dark in Season 4. Netflix's adaptation of "Bridgerton" does not follow the exact order of Julia Quinn's books (Season 3 was based on the 4th novel "Romancing Mister Bridgerton"), so which siblings are next in the limelight

Prior to the arrival of Season 3, Jess Brownell wrote "We're headed for the end of Season 3". "There are some clues to where we are," he joked. With the season 3 finale airing, we can look at those clues and guess what's coming next. With several major season 3 spoilers ahead and mention of what happens in a book that has not yet been adapted, "Bridgerton" completely blinded to Season 4

Eloise dropped a big hint in the season 3 finale that Benedict might be in the next limelight. It was a great experience. She heads to Scotland with her sister Francesca, but she promises not to be too long. That's because she knows that her mother Violet will not let Eloise miss "her masquerade."

Well, anyone who has read this series will know that Benedict first met his match, Sophie Beckett Masquerade Ball, Volume 4, "An Offer from a Gentleman." After their accidental encounter, Sophie disappears at night, and Benedict spends two years avoiding marriage, trying to track her down. Given it's a crucial moment for the second-oldest Bridgerton brothers, there's no way they unintentionally drop such a tip in the season 3 finale, right?

Her love story isn't wrapped up yet, so it's also possible that Francesca will be the main character next time. In the Season 3 finale, she was introduced to her new husband's cousin, Michaela Sterling (Masari Baduza), who lost her word.

In Francesca's original story, "when he was evil," she eventually became Michael Sterling after the death of Sir Kilmartin. Therefore, it is possible that the series will become Francesca's partner and will soon want to continue her story.

Without official confirmation, we can't say with absolute certainty which of the brothers' stories will be next, but these seem to be the most likely candidates. And as such exciting things teed up in the finale, 2 years waiting for more episodes will be even more painful.
