Apple Watch Ultra3: Everything You Know so Far

Apple Watch Ultra3: Everything You Know so Far

2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch, or at least the existence of the concept. Cupertino's first smartwatch was announced in 2014/9, but was launched in 2015/4.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple may have a Watch X model scheduled for this year or next year, but what about the Apple Watch Ultra3?  Here's everything we know so far about the next iteration of Apple's flagship smartwatch.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that due to Apple's lack of activity, we should not expect the Apple Watch Ultra3 in 2024. He suggested that the company may need more time to develop "innovative health management features."

But in the 7 months between, Kuo changed his mind. The updated wearable is likely to be released in 2024, he says — and given that Apple hasn't deviated from that schedule with its 8-year smartwatch, we can safely assume it will be with the iPhone9 on May 16.

With limited design Intel to go to

, it is somewhat difficult to measure the price. That said, the first 2 generations costド799, and it seems unlikely that Apple will significantly raise this already high entry price unless there is a significant unknown upgrade that hasn't yet been wrapped up.

Given that Apple has stuck to almost the same design in its first 10 years of smartwatch manufacturing, it would be surprising if the company had planned a major change to the Watch Ultra3.

However, there are 1 rumor that frowns about its appearance. According to supply chain market research firm TrendForce, the next model will be even larger than the Apple Watch Ultra2 and its sizable 1.93-inch panel. According to the 2023-12 report, the Apple Watch Ultra3's screen will grow by about 10% and claim to clock in at 2.12 inches.  Given that the current model already feels big on the wrist (our wearable guru Kate Kozuch has put it for a good night's rest at night), but at this point it's not clear whether it's by reducing the watch's bezel or whether Apple has an innovative way to reduce weight. It is recommended that you keep your mind open.

Bad News: Unless Apple is very effective at blocking leaks, the Watch Ultra3 doesn't sound like it offers big exciting new features. Indeed, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo warns fans to expect "almost no" hardware upgrades in the upcoming wearable.

Part of this may be related to Apple's ongoing legal battle with Masimo over blood oxygen monitors. Unless Apple finds a workaround or agrees with Masimo, the rumored sleep apnea and high blood pressure detection may not be able to create this year's Apple Watch.

However, 1 major upgrade may still be coming. Last year, TrendForce predicted that the Apple Watch Ultra would adopt MicroLED technology on its screens. This could be brighter and thinner than OLED, which could be a very big upgrade.

Is it happening this year? It is in the air. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed it had been cancelled "in the near future" due to disappointing performance from planned suppliers. More recently, however, some reports suggest that Apple may already have an alternative.

Think of this as a slim possibility for the time being, as another report suggests that you may have to wait until 2026 for the MicroLED Apple Watch screen.

For now, Apple Watch Ultra3 upgrades seem to be overwhelming, but there's a chance you'll see the MicroLED screen on the table. There is a ...........

It's not at all surprising: Apple Watch upgrades tend to increment year by year, and there's not much to write home with last year's Ultra upgrade

But we're still four months away from the earliest possible release date, and it's not surprising that Apple has some up its sleeve. You may have some surprises. We will find on the 9th month.
