We've phased out Samsung's tizen smartwatches and promoted the Galaxy Watch100 and earlier trade-ins to boosting3

It's finally time to say goodbye to Samsung's Tizen-powered smartwatch. Tizen OS is on track to lose full support by the end of 2025, and Samsung has announced that it will mark the end of an era that began with the original Galaxy Watch in 2018. And now Samsung is offering trade-in credits of up to trade100 for your Tizen Galaxy Watch.

This includes Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active2, Galaxy Watch Active, and the original Galaxy Watch. Given that most major retailers like Best Buy only offer$5-15 dollars for these trade-ins, as 9to5Google points out, this is a significant increase.

Samsung ditched its own operating system, Tizen OS, and in 2021 moved from Galaxy Watch4 to Google's Wear OS. Now, Samsung first outlined the end schedule of Tizen watches, according to a screenshot shared by TechIssuesToday of notifications from members of the operation of the Galaxy Store. Samsung is gradually phasing out support for Tizen in the Galaxy store and seems to be shutting down completely by 2025-9. You can find the following timeline:

The latest iteration of the Galaxy Watch is the Galaxy Watch 6. It runs Samsung's One UI5Watch for a Galaxy-specific experience and Wear OS4, the latest version of Google's Android smartwatch software layered. In fact, that means the watch is loaded with familiar Google apps, but it also incorporates programs such as Samsung Health and Bixby.

However, the new Galaxy Watch6 is not cheap. You can often catch it on sale (just check out our best Galaxy Watch 6 deals), but it can sell tough for some300 sticker prices.  However, if you have an older Galaxy watch and are considering upgrading, now is the best time, as Samsung is stepping up its trade-in for Tizen-powered models. This means that the old watch will actually get decent credit towards the new model, which is a few miles away in terms of functionality and performance. So be sure to head to the Samsung store to see how much your smartwatch is worth.
