The iPhone16Pro and Pro Max were tipped for record-thin bezels

According to leaker Setsuna Digital's claim on Weibo, one of the most impressive engineering features of the iPhone16Pro and iphone1pro Max could be the borderline of the display.

After measuring it yourself, Setsuna claims that the iPhone16Pro's display has a 1.2mm bezel around it and the Pro Max has a 1.15mm bezel around it.To demonstrate the difference, they also say that the iPhone15Pro has a 1.71mm bezel, which makes the iPhone16Pro's bezel 30% smaller.

These numbers clearly make the iPhone16Pro model's bezel "the narrowest in the world", beating out the Galaxy S24Ultra and its 1.5mm bezel. Perhaps the Galaxy S25, more specifically the Galaxy S25Ultra, will break this record, but if this turns out to be true, the iPhone will hold the title for at least a few months.

Thanks to earlier rumors that Apple ordered its suppliers to adopt a border reduction structure process, the bezel will be removed from the iPhone16Pro. I was expecting news that it would shrink. This makes the copper wiring under the screen more compact. However, the technology has proven difficult to get right in sufficient quantities, so perhaps only the Pro model gets it, and not the vanilla iPhone16 or iPhone16Plus.

Shrinking the border around the new iPhone's display may not be as meaningful an update as other rumored upgrades, such as the 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera and larger main sensors, new capture buttons and photo improvements like a refreshed chipset.

However, minimizing the width of the bezel means more display in frames of the same size. And since the iPhone16Pro model is rumored to have grown to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively, we can't ignore how much narrowing the bezel will expand the body of the phone, and how superior it is to the iPhone and Android bragging rights.
