Nintendo has announced a new Legend of Zelda game that promises to radically change the series' formula. In place of the main character Link, the following Legend of Zelda: Echo of Wisdom, Princess Zelda is taking center stage.

Since the first Legend of Zelda was released in 1987, there have been 20 mainline Zelda games that do not include spin-offs. Despite her name being in the title, Zelda was not a hero and not a playable character. Sure, you can play as Sheikh (disguised Zelda) in the Super Smash Bros., but that doesn't count to the main series.

The Legend of Zelda: Echo of Wisdom arrives on Nintendo Switch on 9/26. In addition, the Gold Switch Lite Hyrule edition will be released with a new game. 

Nintendo did not announce the price for Echoes of Wisdom. But the Awakening remake of the link is still on sale at sells59.99. Most first-party games from Nintendo tend to sell for that price and stay there.

During today (June18), Nintendo Direct Stream, producer of the Zelda series, said Echo of Wisdom will feature a new gameplay style that "breaks conventions.""Basically, Zelda is not a clone of the link. She has new powers, including the ability to create and replicate objects to help her avoid obstacles and enemies.

Duplicate objects are called "echoes"."These objects can be tables to build bridges, plants to block steam, and enemies to fight for Zelda. Like the link, Zelda is getting a fairy friend named Tri. Hopefully she's no more annoying than Ocarina in Time Navi. 

Echoes of Wisdom has an art style that is very reminiscent of the 2019 remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Awakening of the Link.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom promise to be both a throwback and a leap. Classic SNES-style graphics, with Zelda as the protagonist, remind you of the past while promising to keep things fresh. Thankfully, it won't take long until you can play this adorable adventure.
