Apple is reportedly abandoning Vision Pro2 for a cheaper headset — everything you need to Know

The new report claims that Apple will no longer be working on a high-end sequel to the Vision Pro headset. Information has been reported that the disruption of work on the new Vision Pro is reportedly related to flagging the sale of the device forド3,500.

The report comes from a manufacturer in the Apple supply chain that claims Apple planned to release 2 different models of Vision headsets, similar to Apple having high-end and mid-level versions of other product lines like the iPhone and MacBook.

The existing Apple Vision Pro has a hard time finding a buyer, but most of the time, we insist, because the price ofド3,500 is so high. Tom's Guide Global Editor Mark Spoonauer found the Vision Pro to be a "revolution in progress," but he noted that the device is heavy and can be uncomfortable to wear immediately.

Other Tom's Guide editors, like John Velasco, have said that the headset is just an expensive accessory for other Apple devices. For the price, you can buy a 15-inch Macbook Air and a 1TB iPhone15Pro Max.

There were rumors that Apple was working on a cheaper model. According to information, the technology giant is working on creating a version of the Vision headset, which is more inline with the price of the iPhone Pro or Pro Max, about11,600. That's about 3 times the price of Meta Quest3, which currently tops the list of the best VR headsets.

Perhaps this more wallet-friendly model will be released at the end of 2024.

That said, suppliers reported that Apple was struggling with cheaper headsets. The biggest problem seems to be finding a replacement for the Sony-made display. The Chinese company, called Seeya Technology, is reportedly working on a cheaper display, but it does not meet Apple's high standards. Based on these reports, the numbers in late 2024 are generous, and Apple is likely not to release anything until 2025.

One report suggested that although expensive lenses may remain, the headset lost its camera and had a simpler headband.

A simpler headband will only work if Apple reduces the 1.4-pound weight of the Vision Pro. Perhaps the company is trying to reduce at least 3/1 of its weight to less than 1 pound.

In the meantime, Apple has just announced a number of updates to the Vision operating system. And we are confident that the company is working on some kind of Apple Intelligence integration.
