PS5 custom faceplates are already here - and they look pretty cool

The PS5 is still going to be a huge gaming machine. But it turns out that one enterprising new company is about to offer the ability to stick another color on the PS5.

Our sister site GamesRadar points out that a company with the delightful name "PlateStation 5" is currently selling five custom PS5 face plates to attach to the PS5. This is for the lucky users who pre-ordered their PS5.

The faceplates come in matte black (limited edition), cherry red, chromatic, indigo blue, and jungle camo. The new outfit's website states, "PlateStation 5 was born out of a singular desire to create a custom matte black faceplate.

And we honestly can't blame them for doing this. For many, the PlayStation console is primarily closely associated with the black design; FacePlates will ship by November 12 at the latest. This is the same date that the PS5 will be released in the US

. Of course, the shipping delay may take a bit of synchronicity out of this shopping experience, but such is life these days; PlateStation "aims to process and ship all orders within two weeks of the PS5 launch date.

Personally, I like the matte black and chromatic design. I also think the indigo blue shade is a good choice as it reminds me of the colors used in much of the PlayStation marketing.

Of course, if this wasn't obvious enough, PlateStation's site also notes that their faceplate is an "unofficial third-party accessory" and has nothing to do with Sony, PlayStation, or the console itself. Those concerned about compatibility should note that PlateStation offers a 10-day return period from the date of delivery.
